Coach / Captain Letter

Thank you for participating in JTT. We appreciate your efforts very much!

Whether this is your first year participating or you have been involved for many years, there are changes to rules, regulations and procedures each year. This information is being provided to make your duties a player, coach or coordinator go as smoothly as possible this league season. Please read this information in its entirety and contact us if you have any questions.

Official Team Standings

JTT Team Standings are based on the total number of TEAM MATCHES won. Ties will be broken in the following order: Most Individual Matches won, Most Games Won, Most Sets Won, Least Individual Match Losses, Least Games Lost, Least Sets Lost. The standings displayed in TennisLink may not be calculating correctly, so we will update and publish the official standings on our website. See the State Championship page for official team standings.

Substitutions (Singles and/or Doubles)

A team match will consist of 1 singles and 1 doubles position. Teams are allowed, but not required, to substitute players in singles and/or doubles this year. Substitutions are only allowed at the end of each set. Players may not move from the singles match to the doubles match or vice versa. Up to 2 players may play in the singles match (subbing after the 1st set) and up to 4 players may play in the doubles match (subbing after the first set). Teams are not required to have multiple players for these matches, so 1 player may play the entire singles match and 2 players may play the entire doubles match. Each team may decide if they want to use substitutions or not, regardless of whether the opposing team is substituting players or not. Substitutions are only allowed during the local league. There will be no substituting players in matches during the State Championships.

7.02A Substitutions. Each team may have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 players participate in each team match during the local league. Subbing players is not a requirement. Substitutions may only occur at the end of a set. No more than two (2) players from each team are allowed to participate in the singles position and no more than four (4) players from each team are allowed to participate in the doubles position. Since the rules of tennis define a Tiebreak as a game, no subbing may take place during the middle of any tiebreak. A substitution may be made at the beginning of a match tiebreak, when the 2nd set has ended. Players may not move from singles to doubles or vice versa in the same team match.

Deadline for Rescheduled Matches

9.01 Deadline for Rescheduled Matches. Scores for make-up matches must be entered within 3 weeks of the original match date or by the score entry deadline, whichever occurs first. The score entry deadline will not be extended. Matches that are played or emailed to us after three (3) weeks will not count toward final standings and will be input once the State Championships have been completed.

Score Entry

Always print a copy of the scorecard to take with you to the match. It is the responsibility of
both teams to ensure that match scores are accurately reported within 48 hours of the
completed scheduled match. Both captains should retain a copy of the match lineup and
scores throughout the entire season in case of a dispute.
If something is incorrect with the match as entered, please dispute the match and send an
email to the appropriate league coordinator to explain the reason for the dispute.
