Player Development
Star Search
The Star Search program is designed to nurture and further develop the tennis skills of identified 8-12 year olds from culturally-diverse communities throughout Colorado. These players possess a love for the sport and are committed by actively participating in outside tennis programming.
There are NO FEES associated with Star Search.
Our fall Star Search program is held outdoors at Denver City Park on Saturday afternoons from mid-September through October. The winter program takes place indoors at Colorado Athletic Club Monaco from mid-December to May on Saturday evenings.
Applicants need to have the following basic skill set:
- Can successfully use self-starting shots;
- Comfortable hitting ground strokes and volleys off of both sides (forehands and backhands);
- Can sustain a 7 ball rally (with a peer) on the appropriate sized court;
- Uses the overhead service motion with success 5 out of 10 tries;
- Able to keep score accurately; and
- Understands the basic rules of match play.
If you know of a junior between the ages of 8 and 12 from a culturally-diverse community that has these basic tennis skills and a love for the sport, please encourage them to complete this application and to mark the following day on their calendars for our Star Search Viewing Day.
