National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL)
The National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) is a network of community tennis organizations that seek to develop the character of young people through tennis and to emphasize the ideals and life of Arthur Ashe. This nation-wide network of tennis providers share similar values, ideals and goals by:
- reaching out to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to play the sport
- instilling in youngsters the values of leadership and academic excellence
- giving all kids (regardless of income, race, gender) the opportunity to fully develop their tennis skills so they can derive a life time of enjoyment from the sport
NJTL is a great way to introduce the sport of tennis to youngsters in your community or to enhance their playing skills in a group or team setting. It offers a flexible format that can be tailored to fit any community or player ability level. NJTL’s:
- are open to youngsters ages 5-18 with little or no cost to the participant
- focus on team play using Junior Team Tennis and/or other team-oriented formats
- require no membership fee to register for the program
- use educational and life-skill components to enhance overall development
- can be located in urban, suburban or rural areas
The NJTL is a great way for kids to get exercise, make friends, and have fun in a team-oriented and safe environment. NJTLs offer a variety of on and off-court programming, emphasizing educational and life-skill components to enhance overall development. This curriculum is offered at little or no cost to the participant.
Several offerings are also available to registered NJTL programs and chapters, including such opportunities as the Arthur Ashe Essay Contest, Tennis Leadership Camp, and National Student Athlete Competition.
